PONCHATOULA — Students at Ponchatoula High School were temporarily evacuated on Monday morning due to an overheated electrical panel at the school, according to school officials. 

The students were evacuated so that the fire department could check the panel and evaluate the situation. 

Parents and guardians have been advised by school officials not to come to the school as they cannot allow check-outs at this time. 

"Students are safe and we will update you as the situation progresses," officials said online.
