Mayor-President Sid Edwards announces U.S. Justice Department grant to help combat crime
BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge has received a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to help combat crime.
It is part of the "Model Cities Initiative" recently launched by the Trump administration. Baton Rouge is one of four cities across the country to receive the grant.
"We know this historic investment in law enforcement has the potential to reduce violent crime for decades to come. On Wednesday, we will know the amount of the grant, and operational planning will begin immediately, so that we are ready to implement the strategies in early January," said Sid Edwards.
