BATON ROUGE — Former U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu will deliver the opening address at an international conference on decision-making at The Water Campus in Baton Rouge.

The Water Institute said it will host the annual Society for Decision Making Under Deep Uncertainty meeting from Nov. 9-12. Landrieu will speak at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the opening plenary session at The Water Campus.

The four-day conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, planners and practitioners. Sessions will look at coastal resilience, climate adaptation, artificial intelligence, public policy, water resources, energy, infrastructure and global security.

The DMDU Society is now in its 13th year and focuses on approaches that help decision makers plan for multiple possible futures instead of relying on a single prediction.

The Water Campus sits along the Mississippi River in downtown Baton Rouge and is home to The Water Institute, the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and the LSU Center for River Studies.

Landrieu represented Louisiana in the U.S. Senate from 1997 to 2015 and now serves as a senior policy advisor at Van Ness Feldman, an energy and environmental law firm with offices in Washington D.C., Seattle, Houston and New Orleans.
