ST. GEORGE, La. - "Whenever I made my first touchdown, that was my first touchdown on varsity," said St. Michael sophomore quarterback Cole Vallery.

This week's Fans' Choice winner is an interesting one. After throwing for two touchdowns last week against Tara, Vallery won the vote. But interestingly, in his high school football career, Vallery has never started a game at the varsity level, even to this day.

A few weeks back, when the Warriors faced eventual district champion Madison Prep, starting quarterback Boogie Levingston got injured and exited the game. Since then, St. Michael's been running a two-quarterback system with Vallery and senior Quinn Windham. After a tough outing against the Chargers, in which the Warriors lost 32-3.

"That's a really good learning moment," said Vallery. "Every good player has their varsity moment. I take that as a learning moment, as like that's where I started from only to grow from there."

Vallery bouncing back the way he had to after the Madison Prep game has not gone unnoticed by his coaching staff.

"To walk into the Madison Prep situation knowing what it was and watching it unfold, and still getting up and trying to attack every play the way that he did, and then learning and moving forward into Tara week, we couldn't be more proud of what he did," said St. Michael head coach Zach Leger.

Entering the final week of the regular season, the Warriors are 7-2 with a district record of 5-1. St. Michael faces Broadmoor for their final regular season game of the season on Friday, Nov. 6.
