West Baton Rouge Parish Shelter and Animal Control hosting low-cost vaccine clinic
PORT ALLEN — West Baton Rouge Parish Shelter and Animal Control is hosting a low-cost vaccine clinic, with the first 100 pet owners getting free rabies vaccines for their pets.
The clinic, which is being hosted at the shelter on Denstel Road in Port Allen, is on Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon.
In addition to offering the first 100 customers free rabies vaccines, the first 50 customers will receive free feline or canine boosters.
In addition to rabies vaccinations, the following services will be available for dogs and cats at a significantly reduced price:
Microchipping
Heartworm Test
Rabies Tag
According to the West Baton Rouge Parish government, rabies vaccinations are required by law for all dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets over the age of four months.

All dogs must be on a leash upon arrival, and all cats and ferrets must be transported in a secure carrier, officials said. Payment is cash and check only, officials added.
