Tropical Storm Edouard is a small but strengthening storm. Air Force Hurricane Hunters found evidence of 50 mph winds on Tuesday morning, while the storm was spinning off the southwest Louisiana coast. Continued strengthening is likely while the center remains over water. Landfall is likely to occur by Tuesday afternoon near the Texas-Louisiana state line.

The primary impacts from the storm will be concentrated across East Texas and southwest Louisiana. East Texas can expect 3-6” of heavy rainfall with locally higher amounts, whereas southwest Louisiana is projected to receive 2-4”. Coastal communities in affected areas should also prepare for potential tropical-storm-force winds and a few feet of storm surge at the immediate shoreline.

Being a compact system, peak winds are tightly concentrated around the center of circulation. Consequently, direct impacts will be confined to a relatively small footprint. However, such systems often intensify erratically with little warning.
