Third juvenile suspect arrested after Hammond stolen car chase, 1 still at large
HAMMOND — A third person was arrested on Sunday after a stolen vehicle pursuit ended with a crash in a wooded area on Saturday evening.
According to the Hammond Police Department, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle that was reported stolen near Cherry Street when the driver fled, intentionally ramming a Hammond Police Department patrol unit in the process.
The chase ended when the stolen vehicle crashed into a wooded area north of Louisiana Highway 442, with two of the four juvenile occupants being taken into custody. The remaining two suspects fled the scene.
On Sunday, the Hammond Police Department announced that a third suspect was taken into custody and placed in the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.
Police said the fourth suspect has been identified, with arrest warrants being sought. His current whereabouts remain unknown.
