Thibodaux man arrested after allegedly attempting to impersonate an officer at a traffic stop
LABADIEVILLE — A Thibodaux man was arrested after trying to impersonate an officer at a routine traffic stop, the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Bryan P. Barrios, 55, was pulled over by an officer for speeding on Sunday. When the deputy approached Barrios' vehicle, he noticed two law enforcement badges sitting on the passenger seat. Barrios then displayed one of the badges, claiming he was coming back from another parish in southwest Louisiana.
Deputies contacted the parish in question and were told by the sheriff's office that Barrios was not a member of the department and that a similar incident had occurred with a different sheriff's office.
Deputies seized the badges, and Barrios was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on fraudulent portrayal of a law-enforcement officer or firefighter charges.
