Tangipahoa deputies: 64-year-old woman from Washington found dead on bank of Tangipahoa River
INDEPENDENCE — Deputies identified a dead woman found along the Tangipahoa River on Saturday, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said.
According to officials, a fisherman found the woman on the bank of the Tangipahoa River near the La. Highway 40 bridge. Officials identified the woman as a 64-year-old from Washington state. Her name is being withheld pending the next of kin being notified.
Preliminary results say the woman died of natural causes. There were no signs of trauma, and initial testing showed no evidence of drugs in her system, deputies said.
Detectives do not know what brought the woman to the area, but they believe she was living out of her car, which was found parked along the highway near where she was found.
