BATON ROUGE - With Saturday night’s LSU game sold out, it once again made for a large tailgate scene outside of Tiger Stadium.

With a high heat index and people usually tailgating for hours, WBRZ spoke with three tailgates along S. Stadium Drive, with unique ways to stay in the shade during a long day of tailgating.

It’s because all three of the tailgates have set ups beneath archways and awnings of several campus buildings.

The first of them is called the Ready Freddy Tailgate.

"We started here in 1998 when people didn't really want to tailgate this far away from the stadium. We actually used to have people walk by and make fun of us when we were out here, but we thought it was a pretty good place to be,” Ready Freddy Tailgate’s Craig Lopez said.

The archway provides constant shade, and with portable fans keeping it cooler, it makes for a comfortable Gameday experience.

Even its cooking area outside, the archway is still heavily shaded by trees.

"Everyone's always welcome to stop on by and just enjoy a bite of our delicious food here,” Ready Freddy Tailgate’s Lou Gomez said.

Just across the street from Ready Freddy’s is the Bayou Athletic Club Tailgate; they have a setup that is covered by the Frey Computing Services Center.

“Well, this kind of behaves more like a living room for us, so we can set the TV up, get the chairs out early. We get everyone to come in and hang out. Try to make some food for everybody,” Tim Brocato with the Bayou Athletic Club said.

Even the kids like it, having their own coloring section away from the heat and a nice portable fan.

"We drove around campus, and we saw this building, and no one was under it, and so we were like this is perfect because we're in the shade. We don't have to worry about mud,” Phillip Robert’s with the Bayou Athletic Club said.

On the other end of the Computing Services Center is the Krewe of Old School. It’s a tailgate that has so many cool features, like its own man-made drink machine and a fryer to make fresh French fries.

The Krewe has a large tree by their setup to provide a whole lot of shade and then an archway to have a dry area for their TV.

All three of these spots make for a comfortable game day experience, and with a walkable distance to the stadium, a great tailgate spot.
