MORGAN CITY — St. Mary Parish deputies arrested three people accused of robbing someone at gunpoint at the Siracusa Recreation Department.

Deputies said that, on Wednesday, they were notified of a vehicle pursuit initiated by the Morgan City Police Department that stemmed from the robbery. 

Three suspects were in the car, which continued into Bayou Vista. In Bayou Vista, the driver crashed into a mailbox on Middle Road and the suspects ran into the surrounding residential area and nearby sugarcane field.

Out of an abundance of caution, the nearby elementary school was placed on lockdown. 

Deputies, alongside officers from other nearby agencies, detained the three men. 

James Howell II, 21, Johnathan Gray, 20, and Keon Carbin, 22, were all arrested and booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

All three men were charged with armed robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and probation violation. 

Howell was additionally charged with simple and aggravated escape, while Carbin was charged with possession of Schedule I drugs, introduction of contraband to a penal institution, and criminal trespass.
