DONALDSONVILLE — A man arrested on Tuesday after a double shooting on St. Vincent Street was a teacher at Gonzales Middle School, Ascension Public Schools officials said. 

Kyle Delaney, of Gonzales, was booked for attempted murder after two people were shot Tuesday evening. Delaney was employed as a social studies teacher at Gonzales Middle School, but Tuesday was his last day, parish school officials told WBRZ. 

When law enforcement arrived at St. Vincent Street on Tuesday around 5:30 p.m., they found one victim who had sustained a single gunshot wound, while the other victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to an area hospital.

Deputies allege that Delaney arrived at the victims’ location, exited his vehicle and fired multiple shots in their direction before fleeing the scene. He was located later at a Gonzales residence and was booked on the aforementioned charges as well as illegal use of weapons and criminal property damage.
