Alabama State University student from Louisiana killed in domestic shooting in Montgomery
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A shooting that occurred early Monday morning killed an Alabama State University student who was a Louisiana native, WSFA reported.
Kaylin Smith, 19, was involved in a domestic dispute with a juvenile. The unnamed juvenile was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He is also a suspect in Smith's death.
Police responded to the scene on Zelda Road around 4 a.m. Police forced entry into the home after hearing gunfire. They were able to get two people safely out of the home before finding Smith and the suspect.
ASU President Dr. Quinton Ross, Jr. said Smith was a freshman criminal justice major from Louisiana.
