PLAQUEMINE — A 69-year-old Plaquemine pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car along La. 75 in Iberville Parish, Louisiana State Police said. 

According to state troopers, the crash happened around 4 p.m. on Monday along La. 75 south of La. 404 near the Bayou Pigeon Library. The pedestrian was near the southbound roadside edge of La. 75 retrieving mail from his mailbox. For reasons still under investigation, a truck struck the pedestrian in the roadway.

WBRZ has asked Louisiana State Police for the man's ID. 

Troopers are still investigating the fatal crash.
