LHSAA Executive Committee upholds Carroll High's season suspension
NAPOLEONVILLE — The LHSAA Executive Committee on Thursday unanimously upheld a previous decision to suspend Carroll High School's football program for the remainder of the 2026 season after a brawl broke out between fans and players at a game at Assumption High last month.
The committee met to hear Carroll High School's appeal of the decision issued by the LHSAA Sportsmanship Committee last week. After reviewing the appeal and information presented by Carroll High School, the Executive Committee unanimously upheld the Sportsmanship Committee's decision.
No members of the Sportsmanship Committee participated as voting members in the Executive Committee's appeal decision, according to LHSAA.
WBRZ previously reported that Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies are still looking to identify three fans and the student football players involved in an altercation that broke out at Friday’s game between Assumption High and Carroll High.
The LHSAA released a statement saying after a three hour meeting by the sportsmanship committee on Wednesday, the Carroll High School football program is suspended for the remainder of the 2026 season, including postseason competition.
