HAMMOND — The Hammond Police Department asked the public for assistance in locating a missing 14-year-old on Monday.

According to the department, 14-year-old Kevin Poindexter Jr. of Hammond was last seen on Saturday around 1:30 p.m. wearing a black hoodie with white writing, dark orange shorts and a black book bag. 

Poindexter is about five feet seven inches tall, weighing about 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
