SAINT GABRIEL — Officials from East Iberville Elementary and High School released a statement on Monday regarding a threat that was made against the school. 

According to school officials, they were made aware of the threat following a report by the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office. The individual responsible for the threatening post has since been identified, with the sheriff's office addressing the matter. The student involved will not be on campus as of Monday. 

There will also be increased law enforcement at the school on Monday to ensure the safety and security of students and staff. 

"We take any and all threats against our schools, students, and staff very seriously and will take appropriate action," the school said in a statement. "We ask for your partnership in speaking with your children about the seriousness of making or sharing threats against a school, students, or staff. These actions can have serious legal and disciplinary consequences and will not be tolerated."
