Children's snack recalled due to a potential choking hazard
BATON ROUGE — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned consumers not to purchase a children's snack due to a potential choking hazard.
The FDA warned consumers not to purchase or serve Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft Baked Bars after receiving several reports that toddlers were suffering complete airway obstruction with the inability to breathe after consuming the product.
The choking hazard is due to the product reportedly forming a dry, sticky mass when chewed that standard choking interventions such as the Heimlich maneuver may fail to dislodge, with some reported choking incidents requiring emergency response intervention and hospitalization.
