BATON ROUGE — The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students announced 28 new community leaders to its ninth cohort of its Changemakers program on Wednesday. 

The Changemakers program aims to bring together various community leaders to address obstacles in improving education in the Baton Rouge area. 

The new members of the program will join a network of over 200 program alumni, focusing on the Baton Rouge public education system and school equality. Over the next 10 months, participants will hear from local education leaders, visit schools, engage in discussions about education policy and practice, and engage in volunteer service in the community.

Through the experiences, the Changemakers aim to apply their personal skills to improve opportunities for students. 

“Changemakers is about bringing people together who believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and giving them the knowledge, relationships, and tools to help make that possible,” Adonica Pelichet Duggan, CEO of the Baton Rouge Alliance for Students, said in a prepared statement.
