Two juveniles injured following hit-and-run involving golf cart on West St. Francis Street in Brusly

BRUSLY — Brusly police arrested an SUV driver for allegedly crashing into two juveniles on a golf cart and driving away from the scene on Sunday afternoon.
The hit-and-run crash happened around 2:16 p.m. at the intersection of West St. Francis Street and Elaine Street on Saturday, police said.
Around 6 p.m., the Brusly Police Department announced it arrested a Prairieville woman, who confessed to hitting the golf cart. She faces charges of felony hit-and-run and obstruction of justice. According to the West Baton Rouge Independent, the driver was identified as 38-year-old Adriel Nicole Smith.
According to the Brusly Police Department, the two children, believed to be about 13 years old, were driving the golf cart down West St. Francis Street and attempted to turn north onto Elaine Street. At the same time, the woman driving a silver Mercedes SUV tried to pass the golf cart in a passing zone, but struck the front driver's side of the golf cart, causing it to overturn.
The two juveniles suffered minor injuries, police said.
