Patterson receives $5M state grant to upgrade water plant

PATTERSON — Officials in Patterson announced an expansion of the city's water plant Tuesday night.
The project involves a $5 million grant from the state, which will help address ongoing water issues at the facility. In May, the Louisiana Department of Health gave the water system an "F" rating.
The upgrades include another building and more water meters. Construction is expected to begin by December. Officials expect the work to take about a year to complete.
