PORT ALLEN — A woman accused of driving off with her own car while it was being repossessed has now bonded out of jail.

Port Allen police say Rhonda "Razzberry" Franklin was arrested after an investigation into a March 23 incident in the 800 block of N. 13th St.

According to police, a repossession agent was attempting to repossess Franklin's 2016 maroon BMW X5 when she drove away with it.

Police say the agent had already loaded the vehicle onto his truck and allowed Franklin to grab personal items from inside. The agent stopped in the street to reposition the vehicle so it could be strapped down from the rear, police say.

While the vehicle was being lowered to the ground, Franklin asked to retrieve more items, according to police. Police say Franklin appeared to gather more personal items but then started the vehicle and reversed it without warning.

The incident was captured on security footage attached to the repossession agent's truck.

Franklin is facing a charge of one count of theft of a motor vehicle.
