GREENSBURG — St. Helena Parish school officials say they will close its College and Career Academy at 1 p.m. Wednesday because the facility doesn't have any water service.

The closure impacts only the St. Helena College and Career Academy and other school campuses will remain open.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause; however, without water, kids cannot use the restroom and the food service staff cannot prepare their regular meals," the district said in a notice to parents.

The early dismissal also impacts students who must catch school buses with the students being dismissed early.

"Due to the length of their routes, the learners who attend SHATA and ELC who ride Mr. Holden, Mr. Baker and Mr. Welch's buses must also be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.," the school district said.

SHATA is the St. Helena Arts and Technology Academy and ELC is its Early Learning Center.
