BATON ROUGE — Southern University introduced a new tailgate experience designed to bring alumni and Jaguar fans together at the Welcome Center ahead of Saturday's game against Kentucky State. 

Lacumba's Lair honors legendary Southern football coach Pete Richardson during the first home football game of the season, named the Pete Richardson Classic. 

"We wanted to create something that captures the energy, pride and tradition that make Southern game days special," Southern Chancellor John Pierre said. "Lacumba's Lair is about bringing our Jaguar family together, celebrating our history and creating new traditions while investing in the future of our students."

The experience featured Louisiana-inspired cuisine, a live DJ, photo opportunities and indoor and outdoor hospitality spaces. 

Guests were also able to purchase a premium experience, which included preferred parking, reserved seating, premium hospitality and an exclusive game-day experience. 

Proceeds from the experience went towards supporting the Chancellor's Access and Opportunity Fund.
