BATON ROUGE — Southern University wrapped up homecoming week with thousands of Jaguars turning their attention to game day.

From the pep rally to the step show to the block party, the week was filled with blue and gold as Southern University built toward one of its biggest traditions.

"Southern homecoming is family," student Breonna Dunbar said.

By Saturday, the celebration moved outside. Traffic filled the roads around the Bluff as students, alumni and fans made their way back to campus.

Tailgates fired up, cheerleaders got in their final reps and the Jaguars made their walk toward A.W. Mumford Stadium.

The game day block party and homecoming game closed out the week, but for students like Dunbar, homecoming doesn't really end with graduation.

When asked what she would miss most after graduating, Dunbar said, "Nothing, cause I'm still gonna come back."

For many Jaguars young and old, it was a week built around tradition and a reason to keep coming home.
