BATON ROUGE - The Southern Jaguars beat Kentucky State 34-15 in their home opener, giving them their first win in the Marshall Faulk era.

Southern opened the scoring in the second quarter with a pick six by defensive back Tay James. Kentucky State scored a safety after running back Mike Franklin fumbled the ball, leading Southern to recover the ball in their own end zone.

With seven seconds left in the second quarter, Christian Jones threw a touchdown pass to Isaiah Pina. A missed extra point made the score 13-2.

Southern's Trey Holly and Khalil Davis made the score 27-2, but Kentucky State added two touchdowns of their own to make the score 27-15.

Trey Holly would add another touchdown to make the final score 34-15.
