HAMMOND — A man and a woman were injured and taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds in Hammond, police said. 

Around 8:22 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to reports that a woman had been shot along U.S. 190 near Morris Road. When they arrived, she was taken to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the right arm. 

While officers were aiding the woman, other officers found another person injured in a car in the nearby St. Paul Loop Subdivision. According to police, the car was shot at during the same incident that harmed the woman. 

Inside the car, police found a man with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. He was also taken to the hospital.

The incident is still under investigation, HPD added.
