Elie T. Edwards, 46, was the target of a 2022 drug bust in which more than 18 pounds of heroin, four pounds of marijuana and one pound each of fentanyl, meth and cocaine were confiscated across multiple searches. Edwards was also found guilty of possession of a firearm by a felon.

The 230-year-sentence covers the following charges:
- Distribution of heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, methamphetamines and cocaine
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Conspiracy to distribute heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, methamphetamines and cocaine

“If you sell drugs in our communities, you will forfeit your right to walk free with the rest of us," District Attorney Tony Clayton said. "Edwards will spend the rest of his life at hard labor in prison.”
