BATON ROUGE — A teenage murder suspect was sent back to jail Tuesday and will remain there until a hearing next week on the District Attorney's request to revoke his bond.

The DA's office says 18-year-old Jerimiah Howze repeatedly violated house arrest restrictions since being released on Jan. 6 after posting a $150,000 bond.

Howze is accused of killing 18-year-old Kyle Earthly Jr. two days before Christmas.

The DA's office says that, in addition to house arrest violations, Howze has also not kept his ankle monitor appropriately charged. According to the motion, a criminal tracking service did not notify the DA's office when these violations occurred.

"Riding on a four-wheeler up and down the street, and for him to be doing all that, it felt like a slap in the face; he killed my grandson," Earthly's grandmother said.

Howze, under questioning from court commissioner Nicole Robinson, said he didn't know where he was on the days cited in a report on his bond compliance.

"Even in his responses, even with the addresses that were being called out, I mean, you're out past curfew at 11:45, 11:55. The addresses that were called out, the street names, you don't even know where you were. And then to say that his mom agreed to this, I think it's a reflection of her rearing him and how we got to this point in what he did. So there are consequences to that, " Earthly's aunt, Dr. Maria Shantell Williams, said.

The family says they believe the right decision was made in court today.

"We want to make sure that when we come back on Monday for them to continue to review more transactions, he stays exactly where they put him today," Earthly's grandmother said.
