BOGAULSA — A married couple from Texas died Thursday morning after a small plane crashed near George R. Carr Memorial Airfield in Bogalusa. 

Around 10:48 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the scene of the crash. 

Only two people—married couple 68-year-old William Day and 69-year-old Tommie Day—were in the plane, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office added. 

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area while investigators and emergency personnel complete their work.
