BATON ROUGE - A man was arrested for allegedly raping a woman who was too intoxicated to consent following a night of bar hopping in the Perkins Road Overpass area.

The reported rape happened in the early-morning hours of June 24, an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Elijah Clyde says.

The alleged victim said she went out to Ivar's Sports Bar & Grill around 10 p.m. the night before and met three women she was with the rest of the evening. She drank half of an alcoholic drink before the four traveled across Perkins Road to Zee Zee's Grill, where she had a drink and a shot.

The arrest document says the women were approached by Clyde and one of his male acquaintances, and the group of six walked down the street to Duvic's.

The victim told deputies that she doesn't remember what happened while she was there due to her level of intoxication. Surveillance video from inside the bar shows her unbalanced, stumbling and multiple times catching herself before falling. As she was leaving, she "face planted into the gravel," one of the women told deputies.

Because she couldn't drive, Clyde allegedly drove the victim to her home in her car while the other four followed in another vehicle. All six people reportedly went into the victim's apartment, where the women cleaned her injuries, took her makeup off and helped her change clothes.

The warrant says the three women and Clyde's friend left her apartment after 4:30 a.m. After they departed, Clyde allegedly raped the woman.

The woman called law enforcement around 8:30 a.m. She told deputies she was sexually assaulted, her car was gone, and her roommate's keys, wallet, $40 in cash and debit and credit cards were missing.

Documents say the roommate reached out to Clyde, who told her that he had permission to use the car and parked it near Ivar's, so he could get his own vehicle from nearby and go to work.

Clyde said that the victim "was all over" him during the evening, and disputed that the encounter was nonconsensual.

"I just don't play those games. Regretting a decision you make while drinking doesn't mean someone assaulted you," he reportedly sent in a message to the victim's roommate.

Clyde was booked for third-degree rape, misdemeanor sexual battery, theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Deputies included that he was arrested in East Baton Rouge Parish in 2024 for tampering with a homeowner's camera. He pleaded to a lesser charge of tampering with surveillance and was placed on probation.

While he was on probation, he was arrested in 2025 in Ascension Parish for possession of a stolen credit card and possession of methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty to an amended charge of theft under $1,000.

In each court, he reportedly missed court dates and had a bench warrant out in both parishes.
