BATON ROUGE — A man was arrested for allegedly hitting a woman's vehicle on the interstate and pointing a gun at her when she tried to get him to pull over.

Jacob Simpson struck a driver from behind on I-12 eastbound June 9, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department. The victim told police she was attempting to merge when Simpson hit her driver's side rear bumper. 

An affidavit says Simpson then drove away and never attempted to pull over. As a result, the victim tried to catch up with him and signaled Simpson to roll down his window. 

Simpson then reportedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the woman. She was able to pull behind Simpson's vehicle and get his license plate, which she reported to police. The victim also provided police with a video of the vehicle and Simpson pointing the handgun at her. 

Simpson was booked Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and hit-and-run driving.
