BATON ROUGE — The Gamma IOTA Chapter of Sigma Chi at Louisiana State University raised an IFC record-breaking $140,000 at its annual Derby Days philanthropy event.

Derby Days is a week-long series of events that brings together LSU students, sororities and local businesses, with this year's programming including a golf tournament, a campus-wide Venmo-a-thon and multiple community-driven fundraising events.

Of the $140,000 raised, $126,880 will be donated to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, making this year's Derby Days the largest men's philanthropy fundraiser in the history of LSU. LSU's Sigma Chi has raised more than $225,000 for the organization in the last three years.

"Their contribution through Derby Days will make a real difference for patients and families, ensuring access to high-quality care close to home,” Danielle Mack, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, said. “I am truly inspired by the dedication and heart these next-generation philanthropists bring to our community, and their example reminds all of us why this work matters."

Sigma Chi leaders said the success of Derby Days reflects a broader culture of service within LSU's Greek Life community, which raises more than $1.4 million each year for philanthropic causes.
