Today marks a key milestone in the timing of Louisiana hurricane landfalls. It would be unprecedented if a storm managed to strike the state after this date - October 29.

Hurricane Juan made landfall on October 29, 1985, near Morgan City as a Category 1 hurricane. The latest major hurricane landfall came with Hurricane Zeta on October 28, 2020, near Cocodrie.

From this point in the season, Louisiana is historically in the clear. No development is expected in the Atlantic Basin over the next 7 days.
