Harmony Skate Jam bringing skating, live music together to support future of Hammond skate park
HAMMOND — The Harmony Skate Jam is bringing skating and live music together to support the future of a Hammond skate park.
The skate jam is Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Dreamland Skate Park.
The event will feature skateboarding competitions for multiple skill levels, live music, food, local vendors, prizes, beginner-friendly activities and opportunities for the community to support the growth of Dreamland.
Competitions include the Beginner Jam, Intermediate Jam, Main Skate Jam, Bowl Jam and Best Trick competition, with performances including Soul Tribe, Salmon Shorts and Blue Widow.

Funds raised at the event will support the Harmony Skate Project's efforts toward building a new phase of the park.
"Our mission with Harmony Skate Project overall is to help the community understand the importance of having a skatepark in the city. It's also about helping other communities get access to skateparks in their cities," Brent Coker of the Harmony Skate Project said in a statement.
