Gonzales City Council to vote on giving pay raises to councilmembers at next meeting
GONZALES — The Gonzales City Council is set to vote on giving pay raises to councilmembers at its next meeting.
Councilmembers will vote to increase their monthly compensation from $1,000 to $1,600 at the body's meeting on Monday. The vote on Ordinance No. 4310 will also determine whether a $750 uniform allowance will also be paid to each councilmember.
A separate ordinance, No. 4311, will amend the city's General Fund Operating Budget to appropriate funds for the pay increase.
WBRZ previously reported on efforts to increase councilmember pay by 60% in September, with Councilwoman Terri Lambert suggesting the raise because compensation for the council has not increased since 2018.
