NEW ORLEANS - The score did not stop the party in the Big Easy. Fans filled the streets of New Orleans with excitement ahead of Monday night's "Domecoming" anniversary game.

Saints fans told WBRZ that Monday night's game is bigger than just a rivalry game between the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints, as it marks the 20th anniversary of Domecoming: the first time the Saints returned to the dome after Hurricane Katrina, and many fans tell me they remember it like it was yesterday.

Several fans tell me they were in the dome the very night the Saints made their return.

"We were here; this is my son Christian. We were here that night, fabulous night. One of my most vivid and pointed memories as a Saints fan, being a Saints fan," Saints fan Joe Latino said.

Latino says seeing the state the city of New Orleans was in following Katrina, the 2006 return to the dome, meant a lot to the community.

"It represented a rebirth for this community, for the people here, and you know the moment, the glorious moment of Gleason blocking the punt," he said.

Remembering that glorious moment even led some Saints fans to change up their typical game day gear.

"I usually dress up in different stuff, but I said today, that's it, I'm pulling off my autographed Steve Gleason jersey," Saints Fan, Jon Robertson said.

20 years later, many black and gold fans are returning to the dome on a Monday night with the same matchup from Domecoming.

"Just to experience this again. The way the city has grown since then, and how everyone has still come together and we still support the Saints, and they love the community as well, it's excellent," Saints Fan, Webster Lewis said.
