PLAQUEMINE — Westlake Corporation is investigating an incident involving an employee on Saturday who later died. 

According to Westlake officials, the employee was found unresponsive in a unit around 7:44 p.m., with an on-site medical response team providing first aid.

The employee was later transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead. 

Employees at the facility were previously exposed to chlorine gas from a seal pot in February 2025, according to a report by OSHA.
