BATON ROUGE — A joint investigation between the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration led to the arrest of a man identified as a kilogram-level drug trafficker in the Valley Park area.

During August, agents spent extensive hours watching Lashalln Lagarde, also known as "Yoda," conduct what they described as numerous large-quantity drug transactions. Agents identified four locations Lagarde used to run his operation.

On Aug. 19, agents executed search warrants at those locations with help from multiple divisions and agencies. The operation resulted in two arrests and the seizure of drugs, firearms and cash.

Agents say they recovered approximately 2.15 pounds of cocaine, 2.77 pounds of methamphetamine, 6.5 ounces of fentanyl and 9.15 pounds of marijuana. They also found nine dosage units of Alprazolam, digital scales, cutting agents and a blender with fentanyl residue.

Three firearms were also seized, including a Tisas 9mm handgun reported stolen through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, an FN57 handgun and a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun. Agents also recovered $35,047 in cash.

Lagarde, 53, faces a long list of charges including possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as operating a fentanyl clandestine lab, money laundering and illegal possession of a stolen firearm. He is also charged with illegally carrying a firearm as a convicted felon.

According to police, Lagarde is currently on supervised probation in Ascension Parish and a hold has been requested by his probation officer.

Johnathan Hogan, 44, was also arrested and faces charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, violation of a drug free zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.
