BATON ROUGE — Local student-centered organizations can now apply for a grant through The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students. 

The Community Building Grants program is in its fifth year and has awarded more than $500,000 to more than 20 organizations across Baton Rouge. 

“Baton Rouge Youth Center and the Baton Rouge Alliance for Students share a vision of the future in which every Louisiana student has the support they need to make well-informed decisions about life after high school and pursue their goals unimpeded,” BRYC's CEO, Josh Howard, said in a prepared statement. 

Organizations can receive up to $25,000 in funding. Selection is based on six priority areas: access, student growth and development, leadership development, family and community voice, youth empowerment and out-of-school time. 

Interested organizations can apply on The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students website. Applications close on Sept. 21, and winners will be announced Oct. 6.
