BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge police are trying to identify a suspect who pulled a gun on a convenience store employee and stole cigars after being denied a purchase.

According to police, the incident happened during the mid-afternoon hours of Aug. 4 in the 8000 block of Highland Road. The suspect entered the store and tried to buy cigars but was turned away for not having proper identification.

Police say the suspect then became irate, jumped over the counter and threatened an employee with a firearm. The suspect stole a pack of cigars before running out of the store on foot.

No injuries were reported.
