Baton Rouge man arrested in Live Oak Boulevard shooting
BATON ROUGE — A man accused of shooting a person in the stomach was arrested for attempted murder by Baton Rouge Police officers on Thursday.
The shooting happened along Live Oak Boulevard on Aug. 21. When offices arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the stomach, and he was taken to a hospital.
According to an arrest warrant, the victim told police he was outside his apartment with a family member when a man on a bicycle rode up "mugging" him. The victim later identified the man as Onswald Carter, 44, from a photographic lineup.
While the victim was on the phone with a neighbor, he told police, he noticed the man with the bicycle reach for a gun. The victim said he tried to grab the gun, but the man shot him. They continued to fight over the gun before the victim gained control of it and dropped it over the balcony, the warrant says.
