Baton Rouge family honors son with annual toy drive at children's hospital
BATON ROUGE — While it's not Christmas, donated toys for kids were passed out at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital in Baton Rouge on Monday.
Hot Wheels for Hunter is a family's promise to keep the memory of their son alive. After 6-year-old Hunter was handed a Hot Wheels car following a surgery, he decided to spend his get-well money to purchase additional toy cars for other children at the hospital.
Following his death from cancer last year, his family started the Hot Wheels from Hunter Memorial Toy Drive to keep his legacy alive.
"It keeps his memory alive, and it puts out there that he started this," his father said.
