BATON ROUGE — The inaugural Capital City Music Festival will feature blues, zydeco, Southern soul and brass-band music.

The event, at the Lawn at L'Auberge Casino Hotel Baton Rouge on Oct. 24, is headlined by Kenny Neal, Cupid and Lil Nathan and The Zydeco Big Timers.

The full lineup also includes Geno Delafose, Jourdan Thibodeaux, Big 6 Brass Band and DJ Mr. Clean. Beyond the music, the festival will have food trucks, art vendors and line-dancing classes.

The festival marks Neal's first performance since a near-fatal heart attack during which his heart stopped for approximately 20 minutes. Members of the Neal family will join him for a special musical tribute celebrating his recovery and the family's contributions to Louisiana blues.

"I'm really looking forward to joining with the zydeco guys," Neal said. "This will be my first concert since my heart attack and we are going to have the entire Neal family rocking and rolling out there. I'm happy to be back and letting life flow again!"

The festival is presented by the Capital City Music and Cultural Foundation in partnership with L'Auberge Baton Rouge. The foundation was established by Felicia Dotson and Shayla Wilkinson to celebrate Louisiana culture while creating opportunities for local musicians, businesses, vendors and nonprofit organizations.

"The Capital City Music Festival is about more than great music — it's about celebrating the rich culture, talent and traditions that bring our community together," Dotson and Wilkinson said in a joint statement. "Our vision is to establish a signature annual festival that celebrates the spirit of Baton Rouge, strengthens our local economy and inspires generations to come."

Luke Lognion, entertainment manager at L'Auberge Baton Rouge, said the festival brings together three of the region's defining musical traditions.

"Baton Rouge is the crossroads for blues, zydeco and Southern soul and the Capital City Music Festival is bringing all three genres together with one incredible lineup," Lognion said.

"When people think Baton Rouge, they think entertainment—and when they think entertainment, they know L'Auberge is the place to be."

Early-bird tickets go on sale Aug. 4 for $60 general admission and $200 VIP. Regular tickets go on sale Aug. 7 for $80 general admission and $250 VIP.

Tickets are available on Ticketmaster or at the Sundries gift shop at L'Auberge. VIP admission includes a shaded viewing area with seating, snacks and an open bar.

Children ages 10 and younger get in free with a ticketed adult. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and outside food and beverages will not be permitted. The event will run from noon to 8 p.m.
