Today & Tonight: A noticeable refreshing trend arrives Thursday morning as lower humidity levels settle in. While afternoon highs will still climb into the low-to-mid 90s, the drier air mass will keep heat index values much more manageable. Rain will be extremely scarce, though a brief spotty shower can't be entirely ruled out. Drier air overnight will allow temperatures to dip into the upper 60s, with the best chances of that happening along and north of the 10/12 corridor.
Up Next: Expect that comfortable air to stick around through Friday and the weekend, keeping overnight lows pleasantly down in the upper 60s. Afternoon temperatures will remain hot, reaching the lower 90s. As humidity slowly builds back in early next week, shower and thunderstorm chances will return to the forecast. Looking ahead to late next week, long-range models hint at a cold front that could bring our first real taste of fall. It is still early to lock it in, but it remains a trend worth tracking.
Football Forecasts: Conditions are looking ideal for Friday night football for the second consecutive week. Clear skies, lower humidity, and dry air will set the stage for a very comfortable evening of football. Quiet weather continues into Saturday with zero issues expected. Morning tailgaters can look forward to pleasant temperatures in the upper 60s. Highs will be slightly cooler than the previous LSU home game, topping out in the low 90s, with kickoff temperatures sitting comfortably in the low-to-mid 80s under dry skies.

The Tropics: Fay has regained tropical storm status after its remnants re-organized. It poses no threat to land and will become post-tropical once again over the weekend as it stays far out to sea.
Meanwhile, an area of low pressure located a few hundred miles south-southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands is accompanied by a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This system could become a short-lived tropical depression later today or on Friday while it moves northwestward to northward. However, strong upper-level winds should end the opportunity for development by the weekend. Interests in the Cabo Verde Islands should monitor the progress of this system as gusty winds, areas of heavy rain, and flash flooding are possible there by Friday.
