BATON ROUGE - Freshmen at LSU finished moving into their dorms Sunday and jumped into Welcome Week activities with a ceremony at Memorial Tower. 

Freshman Taylor Banks spent the day with her parents and new roommate, getting their dorm room ready for their first day. 

"You've been preparing them for this their whole lives, so you really just need to trust," mother Alexis Banks said. 

After getting their living situations sorted, incoming freshmen met at the Memorial Tower for a twilight ceremony to kick off Welcome Week festivities. 

Vice President for Enrollment Management Emmet Brown said it's the moment that students start getting their feet wet at LSU. 

The first day of class is Aug. 24.
