BATON ROUGE — BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo is kicking off its annual spooky season celebration with "Boo at the Zoo" opening for its first weekend Saturday.

The family-friendly event, presented by Hancock Whitney, runs from Oct. 17–18 and Oct. 24–25 during regular zoo hours, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last entry at 4 p.m.

This year’s festivities feature the highly anticipated return of trick-or-treat stations scattered throughout the zoo grounds. Visitors can also enjoy live entertainment in Orientation Plaza, character meet-and-greets, Halloween photo displays and food options from local vendors.

In addition to traditional Halloween fun, guests can watch zoo animals receive seasonal enrichment activities, including festive pumpkin treats. Costumes are strongly encouraged for attendees of all ages.

"Boo at the Zoo is a favorite fall tradition for families throughout our community," said Jim Fleshman, Zoo Director. "We're excited to bring back trick-or-treating and offer a fun-filled experience where guests can make memories, enjoy the season and connect with the animals at the zoo."

Admission to the event is included with regular zoo admission, and is free for zoo members.
