The Capital Region will enjoy another stretch of sunny skies and comfortable temperatures Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Clouds will increase heading into Halloween, bringing a chance for showers and a few thunderstorms Saturday before drier weather returns Sunday.

Today and tonight:  Look for plenty of sunshine Wednesday, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and lower 80s. Northeasterly winds will continue, keeping humidity low and conditions comfortable.

Clear skies will allow temperatures to fall quickly after sunset, with overnight lows dropping into the 50s. Thursday will bring more sunshine and another day of comfortable weather, with highs again reaching the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Up Next: The weather pattern begins to change Friday as moisture returns. Clouds will gradually increase, and a few showers could develop near the Louisiana coast by Friday afternoon, although most of the Capital Region should remain dry through Friday night.

Halloween looks unsettled, with scattered to numerous showers and a few thunderstorms possible Saturday into Saturday night. Some locations could pick up more than an inch of rain, which would be welcome after several dry weeks but could complicate outdoor Halloween plans. Severe weather is not expected at this time, although the forecast could become clearer as the system approaches.

Rain chances should decrease Sunday as the system moves east, with drier weather returning for the second half of the weekend. Temperatures will gradually warm, with highs climbing into the 80s early next week. Another cold front could bring additional showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, but the timing and rainfall amounts remain uncertain.

Tropics: The National Hurricane Center does not expect tropical cyclone formation in the Atlantic basin during the next seven days.
