BATON ROUGE — Raising Cane's is turning 30 years old!

The now-international chicken finger chain was started off LSU's campus on Highland Road in 1996 by Todd Graves.

"As Todd always says, we're just getting started, we're just warming up," Zach Corbin, Cane's regional leader of marketing, told WBRZ's April Davis.

To celebrate the anniversary, Cane's is selling a 30th Birthday Plush Puppy at participating Raising Cane's Restaurants and online at RaisingCanesGear.com. The pup, modeled after the restaurant's namesake, is designed with flares from the 1990s to reflect the decade of the eatery's founding. These will be on sale from Aug. 27 to Sept. 22.

Proceeds from every plush puppy sold at participating restaurants in the Baton Rouge area will go to Friends of the Animals BR, Denham Animal Shelter, Mercy Search & Rescue and Must Luv Dogs Rescue.

Graves and the rest of the Cane's organization also wanted to honor the legacy of the chicken finger restaurant with a museum dedicated to the brand's history, including a recreation of Graves' apartment where he dreamed up Raising Cane's.
