Warm, sun-filled days will continue to follow cool, crisp nights in the Storm Station forecast. It’s a pleasant feel, but the lack of rain that accompanies it is leading to a worsening drought that is keeping the fire danger elevated. Multiple parishes and counties are currently under burn bans.

Today, Tonight, & Tomorrow: Sunny skies will dominate all day Saturday, quickly shaking off the morning chill to bring a comfortable afternoon with highs in the mid-80s. With dry air firmly in place, the relative humidity will drop into the 20-30% range this afternoon. These low levels, paired with dry vegetation, mean that grass fires may catch easily. Please adhere to all parish burn bans, and hold off on debris burning and outdoor bonfires. Additionally, avoid parking vehicles on dry grass, as hot exhaust systems can be just enough to spark a fire.

Any daytime warmth from Saturday will vanish quickly overnight, setting up another chilly Sunday morning with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. Like clockwork, temperatures will rebound into the low to mid-80s by the afternoon under a mix of sun and high clouds.

Up Next: The comfortable and dry stretch of weather isn’t going away anytime soon. Highs will continue hitting their mark in the low-to-mid 80s, whereas morning lows will stay chilly in the low-to-mid 50s. While a weak disturbance seeks to bring a few extra clouds around midweek, persistent dry air will keep rain out of the forecast, allowing drought conditions to worsen.

Early signs suggest moisture could return around Halloween and early November, opening the door for much-needed rain. However, because it's still more than a week away, forecast confidence remains low. Halloween officially joins the Storm Station 7-Day forecast later today.
